Nancy
Murray
In
1993, Nancy Murray and Bruce Hunter with the
Connecticut Department
of Environmental Protections Geological and
Natural History Survey
initiated aquatic plant inventory work on State
access lakes, ponds and
river coves. Nancy Murray collects and identifies
aquatic plants and
Bruce Hunter collects the bathymetric data and
assists with aquatic
plant inventories. To date, approximately 1800
aquatic plant specimens have
been deposited to UCONNs G.S. Torrey Herbarium.
Resulting information is
used to update the CT Natural Diversity Data
Bases state listed aquatic
plant records, create maps of aquatic plants
at state access
waterbodies, to document occurrences of invasive
plant species and to
assist in aquatic plant management recommendations
and permitting.
